Portrait of Steve painted by artist Elenna Zichtl.

Steve started as a sculptor at the age of 68 years old, following a career as an Industrial Photographer & Publisher

My work has always been in the visual field. As a photographer I worked on intuition combining unusual techniques to achieve images that contained both strength and visual beauty.

My work as a sculptor still follows this philosophy. “ I let my hands do the work” The sense of touch I believe is primeval! When I have my hands in clay I am emotionally transported back several hundred thousand years. I am an emotional person, the state of our world greatly effects my mood. My love of nature and especially trees has brought me to work on a show which could take many years to come together. “Return to the Earth” will combine a fallen figure representing all of humanity laid out on a mound of earth in combination with fallen tree branches. I am currently photographing standing dead trees to be projected as a film.
